This summer has been a challenging one! With a toddler who is profoundly deaf, a newborn who does not want to get off the boob and a home that is completely unfurnished we made our journey from California to Spokane! I initially flew up to Spokane so that Inaara could meet her ENT surgeon that was going to be doing her cochlear implant surgery. We left Spokane and went to Canada for 3 weeks while we waited for our furniture to be delivered. We came back to Spokane mid July for Inaara’s cochlear implant surgery and then officially moved into our new home in August.
We really miss Southern California. We created a network of wonderful friends/family that helped us with our children and spent time with us. One thing that we regret is that we never really got the chance to enjoy California. The traffic is insane – to get anywhere you really have to plan your whole day around it. With Bronson being a resident and having 1 post call day off (after working 24 hours) the last thing he wanted to do was pack up a vehicle with screaming children and sit in traffic for a few hours. I don’t blame him. With that said, we didn’t get to enjoy all of the wonders of California. We once looked into staying the night at a hotel on the beach and no lie it was cheaper for us to fly our whole family and stay at an all inclusive resort in Cabo than stay in California.
Spokane has been wonderful to us. We have met so many wonderful neighbors that are slowly becoming friends. We do fun activities with them like live music breweries, peach picking, and going to the pumpkin patch. We have met many of the partners in Bronson’s practice that are so kind and wonderful. The air is crisp and the people are kind. We are really settling in as most of our furniture is being delivered and making this beautiful rustic city our new home.
